Galiano advances affordable housing bylaws
The Local Trust Committee gave proposed zoning and housing-agreement bylaws further readings and sent them to the Islands Trust Executive Committee for approval.

The proposed bylaws would permit development of affordable housing through a zoning amendment and a housing agreement; the Galiano Island Local Trust Committee gave Bylaw 280 second and third readings and Bylaw 285 three readings on Sept. 27.[1]
The committee voted to forward both bylaws to the Islands Trust Secretary for Executive Committee approval, and asked staff to initiate adoption by resolution without a meeting if the Executive Committee approves them.[1]
The minutes say the application had received 58 public submissions by the public hearing, and that the committee considered a post-hearing staff report before voting.[1]
The committee also voted to accept two covenants and a housing agreement from the registered owner, and designated the committee chair to sign them.[1]
