The Galiano Island Local Trust Committee voted to bring forward two bylaws for consideration of first reading and scheduling of a public hearing at its next regular meeting, as part of its Groundwater Sustainability Implementation Project.[1]
The bylaws would amend the island’s Official Community Plan and Land Use Bylaw, according to the motion recorded in the minutes.[1]
During discussion, a trustee asked whether project mapping was complete and requested that exempt areas be identified on the map; Planner Narissa Chadwick said the mapping was complete and staff would update the map to show those areas.[1]
At the meeting’s town hall, a member of the public asked about the Community Information Meeting and public hearing process and expressed support for holding another information meeting before a hearing.[1] Planner Brad Smith said there had been a Community Information Meeting about the groundwater analysis results and that the committee could choose to hold another one before a public hearing.[1]
