Galiano committee advances DL14 rezoning for referrals
The committee supported drafting the proposed bylaw and sending it to First Nations, the CRD and BC Hydro for comment, while the application remains in draft form.

The proposed rezoning of District Lot 14 can proceed to drafting of the bylaw and referrals to First Nations, the Capital Regional District and BC Hydro, according to the Galiano Island Local Trust Committee’s Oct. 10 minutes.[1]
The minutes say the bylaw was in draft form and that the application would need to go to the fire department and the Parks and Recreation Commission for comment on proposed emergency access.[1]
During town hall, concerns were raised that rezoning DL14 and changing the easement for emergency access could lead to more trespassing, camping, parked cars and litter.[1]
The minutes also record support for proceeding with the application and say land for affordable housing was not considered necessary because other community benefits were being considered.[1]
