Galiano committee advances rezoning applications
The committee directed staff to continue work on two applications with preliminary First Nations engagement and scheduled meetings for a third.

Staff will continue work on two Galiano rezoning applications with preliminary engagement with First Nations, following votes by the Galiano Island Local Trust Committee on July 11, 2023.[1]
For application GL-RZ-2021.2, staff reported that the proposal includes a nature protection lot of approximately 12.35 hectares and that the applicant had been discussing a possible land transfer with Penelakut First Nation.[1]
The committee also directed staff to proceed with application GL-RZ-2023.2, including preliminary engagement with First Nations.[1]
For application GL-RZ-2022.2, the committee asked staff to schedule a community information meeting and public hearing for proposed amendments to the island’s official community plan and land use bylaw.[1]
The committee also sent Passage Island bylaws concerning shoreline setbacks for Wise Island to the Advisory Planning Commission for consideration.[1]
