Galiano trustees advance Palmberg rezoning to public hearing
First readings were given to proposed bylaws allowing several commercial and agricultural uses, with a community information meeting planned for July.

The Galiano Island Local Trust Committee gave first readings to proposed bylaws for the Palmberg rezoning application, allowing the process to move to community engagement and consultation. [1]
The proposed site-specific Rural 2 zone would allow uses including a contractor yard, storage and sale of gravel, soil and aggregates, sawmilling, manufacturing of wood products, and production and sales of cider and wine. [1]
The committee also amended the draft land-use bylaw to add “contractor workshop” as a permitted use. [1]
The committee requested a public hearing and community information meeting for the proposed Official Community Plan bylaw, and staff advised that the community information meeting would be scheduled during the July Local Trust Committee meeting. [1]
The committee requested a covenant under Section 219 of the Land Title Act as a condition of adopting the land-use bylaw, including conditions and restrictions for the proposed uses and recommendations from the water management plan. [1]
