Galiano trustees approve three-year temporary use permit with limits
The permit includes a five-person occupancy limit, a smaller maximum floor area and a public information meeting on fire safety and emergency access.

The Galiano Island Local Trust Committee approved a temporary use permit for three years, with the maximum floor area reduced to 65 m² (700 ft²) and maximum occupancy of a Family Unit reduced to five people. [1]
The committee also requested that the applicant hold a public information meeting on fire safety and emergency access within the next six months. [1]
During discussion, trustees said there was a need to work with the fire department to ensure emergency access was in place and that there should be no further expansion of units because the permit is temporary. [1]
The committee also approved three readings of Bylaw No. 291 and forwarded the proposed bylaw to the Secretary of the Islands Trust for Executive Committee approval. [1]
The committee’s next regular meeting is scheduled for July 8, 2025, at the Galiano North Community Hall. [1]
