The Galiano Local Trust Committee directed staff to engage for comment with the Georgeson family, the Coast Salish Peoples of Galiano Society and the Penelakut First Nation regarding proposed Official Community Plan Bylaw No. 283, with particular reference to exemption Item P.[1]
The minutes say a planner reported that the proposed exemption had been included in a bylaw referral sent to First Nations in March 2023, and that no response had been received.[1]
The minutes record that some community members had expressed concerns about transparency in the proposed bylaw proceedings.[1]
Further discussion of proposed Bylaws 283 and 284 was deferred to the next scheduled Local Trust Committee meeting on June 20, 2023.[1]
