Galiano trustees support land transfer to Penelakut Tribe
The Local Trust Committee passed four motions related to a proposed 75% land transfer in the Crystal Mountain rezoning application.

The Galiano Island Local Trust Committee supported an alternative 75% land transfer to Penelakut Tribe as part of rezoning application GL-RZ-2014.1, and requested that the Crystal Mountain Society consider it. [1]
The committee also requested that the applicant engage directly with Penelakut Tribe to determine the feasibility of the transfer, including agreement on proposed lot layout, future uses and a subdivision mechanism acceptable to the committee. [1]
The committee directed staff to investigate the process, feasibility and implications of transferring lands associated with rezoning applications to be governed under Penelakut Tribe Land Code. [1]
The committee also directed staff to engage with the Islands Trust Conservancy and the Galiano Conservancy Association about a facilitator role in land-transfer applications. [1]
Island Planner Stockdill said the application was open again for public comment because a second Public Hearing would be held. [1]
